78 EXPLANATION OF NAME CHANGE:

Johann H. Beckmann's first wife was Gesina Feldmann. Gesina Feldmann was the last descendant of the "true" Feldmann Family Line. Since she and Johann did not have any children, the Feldmann Family Line actually ended at that point. After she died, Johann had to take and assume the "Feldmann" name since there were no further descendants of the Feldmann Family. He had to do this to keep the Feldmann Family farm and property which was originally given to the family by the King or Ruling Monarch of Germany. Thus the name Beckmann was changed to Feldmann. Johann then married a second time. He married Rebecca Jurgens and these two had children. Thus the family line continued assuming the "Feldmann" name but are in fact really "Beckmann" family descendants.
Beckmann, Johann Heinrich (I223833)

79 F.W.Feldman farm sale - 26 Jan 1916s wife Augusta, came their 4 yr. old daughterBernhardina Augusta (called Dena) and their one-year-old daughterAnna, who died on the voyage and was buried at sea. Several factorsappear to have brought the Feldman family to the US. Wilhelm was theeldest of his brothers and was thus expected to find a farm of his ownor to work on the family farm with his youngest brother who, bycustom, was given control of the farm. Apparently this was not acomfortable situation for Wilhelm. Augusta had several relatives whohad already migrated to the St. Joseph, Missouri area. With theperception of the US as the land of opportunity -- notices were widelyposted in Germany -- and the young family made the giant step. Beforehis untimely death at the age of 53, Wilhelm had established arespectable farm in Hamilton County, Nebraska. Feldman, Friedrich Wilhelm (I211311)

Hey Genners,
I think I posted this quite some time ago, but thought that since I've
picked it up again, I'd repost. This is a list of names/places for my
FELDMAN surname, and in following emails will be the other surnames I am
searching.

Joseph - born in Hungary, died in Scranton, PA
married: Leba Friedman - b. Hungary, d. in PA

Their Children:

William - b. Hungary, d. Louisiana (married Flora Ascher)
David L. - b. PA, d. Louisiana (married Katie Jacobs)
Jacob - b. Hungary, d. Louisiana?? (married Birdie ??)
Edward - b. ??, d. Texas (married Leah ??)
Benjamin - b. ??, d. PA (married Reva Diner)
Ida - b. PA, d. Louisiana (married Bernard Manhiem)
Mary - b. Hungary, d. PA (married Benjamin Klein)
Esther - b. PA, d. Texas or Louisiana (married Leo/Louis Loevy)
Hannah - b. PA, d. Texas (married Harry Jacobs)
Lena - b. Hungary, d. PA (married Adam Jacobs)
Sarah - b. PA, d. PA (died as teenager)
Sander - b. PA, d. PA (married Lizzie ??)

NOTE: As far as I know, none of the "Jacobs" that the children married
were related. Matter of fact, I know for a fact, that Katie Jacobs wasnt
related to either Harry or Adam and because of the age difference between
Lena and Sarah, I dont see how their spouses were related either.
